The 2016 BMW M3 is the original sport sedan and it has been around for more than 30 years now. The latest generation of the car has to be the best one yet and it also happens to be the best selling and the fastest sport executive sedan on the market to date. Unlike the previous generations though, the current model is only offered as a four-door sedan and not as a coupe or even as a touring model which is a bit of a shame but BMW decided to discontinue the touring model altogether and the coupe version now has a new name, the M4.
Exterior and Interior of 2016 BMW M3
Just as we mentioned before, the interior will get slight design touches which will include things such as different materials for the trimmings as well as a better infotainment system which should now finally include Apple’s Car Play as well as Google’s Android Auto. The seats will be the same upgraded ones from the old M3 but there should be slightly improvements in the quality of the materials.
The outside of the 2016 BMW M3 on the other hand will remain mostly unchanged which is perfectly fine with us especially when you think that the car has one of the simplest yet most amazing designs in its class which manages to catch all the spirit of its predecessors while continuing to push the boundaries. New colors should be added for the 2016 model as well as a completely new set of rims which will be available only with the performance package. This will increase the maximum top speed of the car as well as it will offer unique upgrades such as high performance tires, a lightweight exhaust system and a unique color to it, the BMW performance blue.
Engine wise, the car will make use of the same S55 engine, a twin-turbocharged 3 liter inline 6 from their new modular family of engines. We are grateful that BMW stuck with a twin-turbo setup rather than the twin-scroll turbo which offers the same amount of power in a smaller package but a lot more turbo-lag. The 2016 BMW M3 will still make 425 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque which is very good considering the displacement. The fuel consumption will remain just as good as before, the car being rated at 17 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway, a lot better than some of its competitors.
The best part about the BMW M3 2016 will be the fact that it is one of the few cars out there which still offers a manual transmission, a 6 speed unit which is one of the best on the market. There is also an optional 7 speed automatic which offers slightly better acceleration times but the same top speed and some added weight. The official 0 to 60 MPH time for the previous model was 3.8 seconds and this is likely going to be carried over to the 2016 model while the top speed will still be around 163 MPH.
2016 BMW M3 Price
The 2016 BMW M3 is a minor revision of the car released back in 2014 which will include a slightly different interior, new exterior panels as well as new technologies. The price as well as the engine will remain mostly unchanged from that model, so expect the same incredible numbers from it. The new 2016 car will be released some time at the end of 2015 while the production model will be ready by the start of 2016. The price will start at $63,000 but the options on this car will get the price to more than $90,000 in some cases which is still worth it but there are some more premium cars already at that price point.
